UPDATE (May 20)
As we wrote this
blog post it occured to us that not everybody in the BTBuckets community knows the values that BTBuckets stands for... that, and the fact that the Facebook Connect feature reside on the privacy realm, led us to write this comment.
Under no circumstances will BTBuckets use personal identifiable information (PII). BTBuckets and other serious companies are at the forefront of a huge technological challenge: making the web experience more relevant.
Although BTBuckets wasn't a reality 4 years ago, all of its team and
officers observed the debates over first vs third party cookies, privacy
and personal user information. A lot has been gained since then -
serious companies (those who drive relevance and value for the user)
have prevailed, people have understood that some information can be used
exclusively for their good, and most importantly, a clear heading and
boundaries were established which respect personal information and
establish absolute transparency as a non-negotiable value.
BTBuckets is part of that revolution and it WILL NOT stand by or endorse
any initiative that could possibly cast a shadow on all that has been
conquered by the nation of users of the WWW.
As we said before, we have the pleasure and ability to be at the
forefront of the development of applications which are based, amongst
other things, in (non-personal) information. We honorably accept the
mandate to render value that the thousands of websites currently using
our technology and their millions of users have given us, and we will
always uphold our core values of respect for privacy and transparency.
BTBuckets Team.
Awesome news from the front!
It's been rumored that the big guns will make extraordinary revelations @ Google I/O... well, we don't want to steal their thunder, but we also have something pretty cool to share -
BTBuckets is now able to use Facebook Connect info to auto generate buckets! That means that if your website uses Facebook Connect as the login manager, you'll be able to automatically segment and target users with all the neat information their Facebook profile brings along (such as age, gender, marital status and academic background among others!).
This new feature is in final beta and should be made available to all by the end of may. Be sure to check back @
BTBuckets.com over the next weeks.
As always, if you can think of cool things to do with BTBuckets, drop us a line at
community.btbuckets.com.
We hope to hear from you soon!
