Brazil is a very proud country - specially proud of their national soccer team. The biggest catalyst for "futebol" pride demonstration is the World Cup. The country stops and stares at what happens on the soccer field.
BTBuckets is Brazilian and we feel the need to participate in this excitement. Although all of our communication is done in English we felt the need to let other Brazilians know about our national pride. And we wanted to do this with our own tool.
The first thing we did was to update the logo to include the Brazilian flag for local users. After creating a bucket for users from Brazil (country), we created a targeting code that switches the current BTBuckets logo to the new logo with the Brazilian flag:

We thought this was cool, yet subtle. We also wanted to write a special note in Portuguese to the Brazilian users. We then developed a DHTML 'peel' banner that we wanted to place on our homepage and then redirect the Brazilian users for a
special message in Portuguese.
So if you come to the BTBuckets homepage from a Brazilian IP address, this is what you see:

(notice the 'peel' DHTML in the upper right corner)If the user then places the mouse over the 'peel' section of the page, this is what they see:

All these applications without changing any of the site's code! Let's see if the Brazilians get proud of their web apps, too!
This is a simple, yet powerful, way of segmenting users and letting them know that you understand their behavior and creating a more engaging experience.
