Browser Plugin
We believe that internet can be a better place for users and we want to create the easiest medium to allow websites to interact with their users in the best way.
That's our drive to create our new browser plugin to integrate BTBuckets with Google Adwords, Google Analytics, and Google Website Optimizer.
If you know your users through a web analytics platform such as Google Analytics and using a optmization plataform to test and define the best content for your audience with Google Website Optimizer, you're going to rock with BTBuckets.

Plugin Setup:
Once you have signed up for a BTBuckets account, the setup is very simple and takes only two steps.
- First you need to get your API key. For that, go to the Tags section of the BTBuckets interface (once your are logged in, click the tags option on the main menu), scroll down to the API key section - copy this value and save it in the plugin.
- After that, click on the bucket on your browser toolbar
and paste the API key.
Paste it and click "OK", the plugin will validate the API and finish the setup. The details of your account will be saved, like the URI of your site and number of saved buckets. You can use this button any time to check this information.
Done! You can start use the plugin right away. The plugin automatically activates specific reports on the Google Analytics interface. Notice a grey bucket on the status bar
, when it becomes red that means you can create buckets
based on the current report and you'll see one bucket on the right
side of each report line, click on it to create your bucket.

Hi Michelle - thank you for taking your time to give us feedback.
We already removed the incorrect tutorial link (we've been working a lot on streamlining the community website). We also updated the instructions for access to the API key.
Furthermore - we are looking into the cookie login process you mentioned.

Your video tutorial link is broken. And you do not adequately explain where to find the "tags section of the BTBuckets interface." Also, the login process is pretty screwy. I am constantly told that I have a login error and need to reset my password because there's a cookie or something somewhere that's telling the system I'm already logged in. I have to close all browser windows and dump cookies to be able to log in an access certain areas of the site - you might try putting a simple error trap that says "hey, we think you're already logged in with another session somewhere..." or something instead of just posting an error and asking for a password reset.

Hey Mark,
I installed the plugin and it works fine. To me the toolbar button has the same tool tip text "activate btbuckets integration". No problem there and I can use the plugin with GA. It sounds to me that it is not asking you to activate for the first time the api. Anyway try use the plugin with GA, notice that the buckets will appear only on the pages where the integration is possible.

Ok, tried again after leaving the laptop for four hours, and this time it worked.
But not completely.
Although it says I'm registered and shows the site details and number of buckets, the Toolbar button is still telling me to activate btbuckets integration.
Tried closing and restarting Firefox a few times. no luck.
Maybe I'll wait another four hours to see if it get's it act together.
Unfortunately this is typical of my whole experience of Btbuckets so far. Lots of promise, but full of bugs.

And it still doesn't work.
Added the API pressed OK and got an error message "Please add your API key"
Well, that's what I just did. Tried again, and again and again. Tried every variation of writing the key I could think of.
No luck.
What to do?
Any ideas?

Where can I find my API?
As usual there's nothing in the help section or knowledge base that tells you where to find it.
Why can't you just list it in my account?
